Balla: Non-Parliamentary Opposition Cannot Impose On Parliament What Is

After the Democratic Party, the Socialist Party has also started the engines to prepare for the 2021 elections. The General Secretary of the Socialist Party, Taulant Balla, convened today the Coordinating Council of the Socialist Party of the Tirana region.

Through a post on the social network Facebook, Balla emphasizes that the focus of the meeting was the organizational plan, the deepening of gender equality, the involvement of young people and the setting of the milestones of the structures for the next parliamentary elections of 2021.

According to Balla, the non-parliamentary opposition should stop insulting the deputies of their closed lists in the Assembly and also forget that they can impose on the Assembly what will be discussed in the session or in the committee.

Full post by Taulant Balla:

Respecting one by one the anti-covid protection measures, we continued in the Tirana region with the Coordinating Council of the Socialist Party with a focus on the organizational plan, in deepening gender equality, youth involvement and in setting our structural milestones for the April-May elections. 2021, where we will gain confidence in our third governing term with Prime Minister Edi Rama.

"The agreement with the non-parliamentary opposition on the Electoral Code is an agreement that has created positive conditions in relation to the political climate and we will vote for it in the Assembly.

The agreement is an agreement and we will respect it, appreciating the commitment plus the effort of our partners.

The Socialist Party has always respected the agreements, although this was an agreement not to change anything from the way the elections are conducted.

The non-parliamentary opposition, meanwhile, must stop insulting lawmakers on their closed-door lists in the Assembly and also forget that they can impose on the COUNTRY what will be discussed in the session or in the committee.

Regarding the proposals of the parliamentary opposition for the electoral system, as a condition for reaching an understanding with them, to vote, this is another topic. It is a fact that the vast majority of Albanians neither like the agreement on the Code nor want the closed lists.

Opening lists for us is not taboo at all. Therefore, we will sit down with the parliamentary opposition to discuss this issue ", I said during the meeting.
