President Ilir Meta expresses concern about the growing number of coronavirus infections.

In a Facebook post, he says the alarming rate of increase in the number of COVID-19 citizens affected, especially the number of victims, compared to the period of the onset of pandemics and quarantine, urgently requires a serious, responsible and transparent reflection.

The President says that a concrete long-term strategy, not sporadic and media, is needed to face and bring under control the spread of this pandemic that is seriously endangering the health and lives of citizens.

Also, Meta adds, an even more intensive communication with the countries of the region and those of the EU is necessary, as well as with the WHO, to harmonize the actions and exchange information in real time for the orientation of a strategy that allows a safer exit and rapid from pandemic.

"Expressing my deepest condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones, and wishing a speedy recovery to all those affected, I emphasize the need for rigorous compliance by all with health protocols and preventive measures."

The Head of State underlines that it is vital to increase the efficiency of these measures, through awareness, transparency, inclusiveness and increasing the spirit of cooperation, as the major common objective should be only to protect the health of citizens and the national economy.

"In particular, it is necessary to increase the reliability of pandemic management, now that we are entering the peak of the tourist season, in order to get the most out of it," Meta concludes.
